Welcome to the Kesselgrub Holiday World, a place where hospitality and tradition come together. Our story began in the 19th century, when the farm was founded by Christian Steiner. Since then, much has changed, but our passion for hospitality remains unwavering.

ONCE UPON A TIME... The most beautiful stories are the ones we write together.
In 1922, Anna (a hostess) and Rupert Thurner (a farmer) purchased the agricultural estate and transformed it into a small guesthouse with rooms for travelers. This laid the foundation for what is now the Kesselgrub Holiday World. For three generations, the name Thurner has been closely associated with hospitality and accommodation.
In 1973, Anna and Johann’s grandparents expanded the business by acquiring "Ski & Badeglück" along with land and forestry in Eben im Pongau. Four years later, in 1977, they purchased a holiday home in Altenmarkt. The construction of a bathing lake in 1986, along with numerous renovations and expansions, marked key milestones in the development of our establishment.
MODERNIZATION AND GROWTH
In 1997, Johann Rupert Thurner Jr. took over the business and continued the tradition of innovation. The construction of a new winter garden and the Fiakerstube in 1999, followed by the renaming of the Fiakerstube to s’Kessei in 2001, reflects our commitment to continuous improvement. With the addition of the “Wohlfühl” apartments in Eben im Pongau in 2000, a country house in Altenmarkt in 2004, and fishing waters in Mühlbach/Dreiergraben in 2005, we steadily expanded our offerings.
In 2006, we renovated and expanded the turrets, creating the Tower Suite. The enlarged and renovated bathing lake in 2008, along with the addition of a vacation apartment house in 2009, provided our guests with even greater comfort and relaxation.
SUSTAINABILITY AND FUTURE
In 2011, we installed a solar system for our bathing lake to ensure sustainable operations. The construction of the employee house in 2015, the power plant in 2016, and the acquisition of two building plots in Eben im Pongau in 2018 reflect our commitment to a sustainable growth strategy.
The highlight of our recent developments was the major hotel expansion in 2023. With a new indoor pool, a water park, additional rooms and suites, as well as an expanded restaurant area, we now offer our guests even more comfort and memorable experiences.
